Photos, Video and Audio at C3 Nairobi

Welcome. If you've scanned the QR code at the door, thank you for taking a moment to read this. It matters to us that you know exactly what you're saying yes (or no) to.

Why we take photos

Every Sunday, something beautiful happens in our church family. People worship, pray, laugh, serve and grow together. Lives are being transformed, and we believe those stories are worth telling.

"One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts."
Psalm 145:4 (NKJV)

Photos, video and audio help us share that story. They help someone searching online for a church in Nairobi see real faces and real community before they ever walk through our doors. They help us celebrate what God is doing, remember where we've come from, and invite others into what He's building here.

But your image belongs to you. So before we use any of it, we want your clear, written permission. This page explains everything you're agreeing to when you sign our consent sheet.

What we capture

We may take photographs, video and audio recordings at Sunday gatherings, Connect Groups, C3 Kids, events, outreaches and other church activities. On this page, we call all of this "media."

What to expect on the day

Our media team will move quietly around the room during our gatherings. They'll try not to distract you from worship or the Word or fellowship. You may see them at the front, along the sides, or near the back.

If you've ticked "No" on the consent sheet, our team will do their best to keep you out of frame. In a busy room, you may occasionally appear in the background of a wider shot. If that happens, we won't use that photo, or we'll crop or blur you out before it goes anywhere.

If at any point you'd rather not be photographed, just let a member of the Big Hug Crew or our media team know. No explanation needed.

How we choose what to use

Not every photo taken will be used. Our team reviews every image before it's shared anywhere. We look for photos that are warm, natural and true to who we are as a church. We leave out anything unflattering, awkward or that catches someone in a private moment.

How we use it

We may use media in which you appear for any church communication, including:

  • our website and social media

  • printed materials such as pamphlets, flyers, banners and posters

  • presentations, reports and publications

  • paid advertising on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Google

  • our church archive and records

We will always use your image respectfully. We won't use it in a way that is misleading, harmful or embarrassing to you.

What we will never do

  • We will never sell your image.

  • We will never use your image to promote anything outside the life and mission of C3 Nairobi.

  • We will never knowingly use a photo of someone who has said no.

Who we share it with

We're part of a bigger family. We may share media with the wider C3 Church Global network and with other partners, ministries and service providers who help us with our work. Some of these are based outside Kenya. We only share media for purposes connected to the life and mission of C3 Nairobi.

Naming and tagging

From time to time, we may name or tag you in captions or social media posts, especially when we're celebrating you, your family or your part in our church life. If you'd prefer not to be tagged, just let us know and we'll respect that.

Children and teenagers

Our children and teenagers are precious to us, and we take extra care with them.

Every child under 18 needs a parent or guardian's consent. When you sign, please write the names of each of your children under 18 on the same line. Your signature covers them.

When using images of children, we will:

  • never photograph children in private moments, such as changing or using the bathroom

  • think carefully before naming or tagging a child in a public post

  • remove a child's image promptly if a parent or guardian asks us to

Your choice

Saying yes is completely voluntary. If you tick "No," nothing changes about your place in our church family. You're just as welcome, just as loved and just as much a part of what God is doing here.

You won't be paid for the use of any media. C3 Nairobi owns the media we capture and the right to use it as described on this page.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing hello@c3churchnairobi.com. Our Admin team will handle your request.

Once you withdraw:

  • we will stop any new use of media you appear in

  • we will remove digital content, such as website and social media posts, where reasonably practicable

  • printed materials already distributed, such as pamphlets or banners, cannot be recalled

  • anything used before you withdrew remains lawful

We may still keep some media in our church records and archive where the law allows us to.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask us to:

  • show you, or give you a copy of, media in which you appear

  • correct your personal information

  • delete your personal information

Some limits apply, for example where a photo also includes other people or forms part of a wider church record. Email hello@c3churchnairobi.com for any of these requests.

How we keep your information

Your signed consent sheet is kept securely by the C3 Nairobi Admin Office. The sheet includes your name, your children's names, your signature and your phone number or email. We only use these details to record your consent and to contact you about it. We handle all media and personal information in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

How long your consent lasts

Your consent covers all future Sundays and church events, and it continues even if you stop attending C3 Nairobi. We'll ask everyone to renew their consent every five years.

Common questions

I signed "Yes" but I'm having an off day. Can I skip photos this Sunday?
Of course. Just tell a member of the Big Hug Crew or our media team, and they'll keep you out of frame that day.

I'm visiting for the first time. Do I need to sign?
Yes. Everyone is asked to fill in the sheet at the door, so our team knows your preference from the start.

I found a photo of me I don't like. What can I do?
Email us at hello@c3churchnairobi.com with a link or screenshot, and we'll take it down where reasonably practicable. You don't need to withdraw your consent completely to ask for one photo to be removed.

Will my photo be used in adverts?
It might be. We sometimes run paid adverts online to help people find our church. If you're not comfortable with that, you can tick "No" or email us.

My child is now 18. Do they need to sign?
Yes. Once your child turns 18, they can give or withdraw consent for themselves.

Questions
